While I think it was an unfair fight because while the cop says he ain't gonna arrest the guy, starting shit with an officer is a quick way to go to jail, I gotta give the cop some props cause he did exactly as he said he would.

Also, lmao when the partner comes over, says "get your hands behins your back" and the cops like, "nah, we cool," while still punching the dude.

I'd legit just ask her one day, or tell her. It's gotta fit seamlessly into the convo though, so if you two are talking about relationships or sexy time or anything like that, slip in a "i'm sorry if this sounds weird, but i've always had a little crush on you," or something to that effect.

Make sure you say "little" crush or whatever. It gives her an out. If you're imagining things, she won't feel bad telling you know if it's just a "little" crush, where as, if she's into you, maybe she'll give you a bit of shit (jokingly) for only liking her a bit.

Either way, it lets her know how you feel while allowing her to make the next move, but it also doesn't put an undue amount of pressure on her.

I acknowledged it by asking you why they mentioned their race/gender if it wasn't relevant, and you just answered with "you know," meaning you didn't actually answer it. So, no, nothing was refuted.

It has been brought up that them trying to win a contest and acknowledging who they are and their rarity in the field is relevant. You just don't like the answer and don't consider it legitimate.

Why is their race being a rarity in the field relevant to whether their idea deserves to win?

Nobody ever said it was.

They said they deserve to win based on their invention, not their race. They just happen to be black and are mentioning it because a) maybe it'll garner them some votes, and since they want to win, why not use every advantage possible, and b) maybe they'll be seen as role models by other female child minorities. It's a good thing when you see someone similar to onesself excelling in a field that they're primarily not known for.

Happy?

You keep changing the beginning because of the "what if." Fuck that. Accept the earlier part and go woth "what is" and roll with it. More often than not, you won't have to worry too much about editing the first bit because you will have gone with that.

It's a lot like learning a new language. Once you're in, you're in. It's getting there that is thr challange; but the payoff is worth it.

oh trust me, i know all about going back and editing it so everything fits better and is cleaned up and whatnot. the first draft of everything is terrible. i understand that. but this goes beyond that. it's difficult to explain without first explaining a shitload tbh about the project, and that'll be a lot of detail that i'm sure no one has the time or motivation to read here. suffice it to say, the revisions that have happened between each draft being scrapped and the next were significant. in the early years, they were basically different projects entirely. one time another entire project was wholly merged with this one.

Sounds complicated. DM me thr first chapter. I'm gonna have some free time coming up at the end of the month, and once I finish "The Algebraist" I'd be down to take a look!

in the past couple years i've made a real effort to put together a complete world-building bible and outline for an epic high fantasy series that's been kicking around in my head in one form or another for about half my life, with its earliest ideas taking shape right here on Gamefaqs on the Roleplaying/Fanfiction board when i was in my mid teens. it's been through several revisions and complete rethinkings since then, but every time i've tried to start a rough draft i would end up scrapping it entirely after only a few chapters at most, or as little as a few pages.

it's been taking awhile because i don't have everything figured out yet, and the scope is pretty large, with a lot of deep lore and ancient history needing to be solidly in place in order to explain a lot of things about what the world is like, and also very significant events in the recent past that have come to define the current sociopolitical and socioeconomic state in the setting of the main plot arcs. also there are six main protagonists, and there are different regions that their stories take place across, and there's just a lot of pieces to fit together.

i know how i want certain things to be. i know how i want certain plot points to go. it's just a matter of connecting everything. but i feel like i have to fully complete that first in order to even think about beginning another actual narrative draft for it. i think it will end up scrapped every time until i embrace my inner "architect" first.

recently, i've also been watching a lot of youtube series that are stuff like writers' workshop series or college lecture series about writing, which i think has really been helpful and is a great free resource. right now i'm in the middle of watching videos of a lecture series from Brandon Sanderson that he gave at his alma mater BYU about his writing method and process. i've also watched writers workshop series from a few small-time self-published authors that give a nice perspective on things, but are most helpful when they go over writing advice they got from a professional source and are just relaying that advice, not so much when they talk about their own experiences. one channel that has been immensely helpful though is Ellen Brock, as she is a professional editor, and the advice she gives in her videos is based on her experience in the editing industry with what makes it through and what doesn't, which is a much more helpful perspective than struggling self-published authors imo.

I do. :3

I publish short stories on Amazon. :3

Guess what genre. :3

Romance?

Erotic.

To be fair, I haven't written anything in a long long time, but the stuff I have still makes a few bucks. Anywhere from 30 to 100 bucks a month, it fluctuates wildly.

Nice lol. I've made a total of about $60 between Amazon and Kindle since last June haha. I'm terrible at advertising though.

I enjoyed the writing, but I quit because of literally everything else about it. It's soul sucking and depressing. Trying to put together a book cover without breaking copyright laws. Trying to create the right summary that will make people want to read your book. Trying to not include those certain buzz words that will lock your book down in the adults only section, which gets no business. Trying to make sure you're not outright banned because of some random content in your book.

I just liked writing and the whole Amazon thing stressed me out too much with all its rules so I quit. If I ever write anything like it again I'll just post it on the free sites.

Agreed, it's often very depressing. I'm writing my 10th book right now and I just hit 22,000 words. But it's hard to keep going when you know no one cares but you and a few friends and family. I never had an issue with covers though. I just use royalty free images from Google.

Why not commission an artist to make a cover for you? Sure, It'll cost upfront, but you'll be paid back in spades through all the free social media advertising they do for you.

All it takes is for one maven to enjoy your stuff and promote you.

Depends on what type of writing, heh.

I've got two EP's and a full length album with a band. (I wrote the majority of the songs, so I guess that counts).

I have one collection of horror short stories, self published.

I've done a few other short stories that I publish on my website.

I'm currently working on two projects. One is a novel about a haunted hospital, and the other is a video game a couple programers asked me to write.

It's tough though, cause I work full time, have a band and am always trying to produce something in terms of literature. Oh well, I enjoy it so I won't stop.

Yeah, the "perjury trap" accusations are so weird.

People point to Bill Clinton getting charged with perjury for his affair which was unrelated to the investigation, but he flat out lied about it. It's not as if they tricked him into denying it.

I don't think anyone is going to try to impeach Trump over something like him being off by a thousand dollars on how much he says he pays someone or anything like that.

Dude I've seen so many Trump supporters use the "perjury trap" defense.

Like "he shouldn't answer Mueller's questions because then he'll be under fire for perjury!"

And it's like... why would he lie on any questions and commit perjury in the first place if he's innocent?

For real. If your defense to not answer questioning is that you will end up lying.... how the fuck is that acceptable. lol

I disagree. I enjoyed the ending. He was obviously foreshadowing it the whole book. It didn't feel like he ran out of space in his brain and came up with the first thing he thought up.

That's just me, though.

What makes you think it was foreshadowed? Been awhile since I've read it but I remember it being really out of the blue.

for the aliens, it was kinda outta the blue, although slightly alluded to.

It's more the shame aspect, and begging aspect that is more prevalent. You have Barbie always thinking back to the time he was ashamed in Iraq. You have Sanders and the other council woman, Andrea, who are ashamed of their life, and their drug problem respectively. You constantly have people begging to get out of the situation they're in (Angie at the beginning when she's killed by Junior, the girl who's raped and has the kid with Phil Bushy, etc etc etc).

Throughout the novel, it seems like a massive theme, to be ashamed and to beg that the ending made sense. Once again, it did to me atleast. I've also read the damn book like 5 times, so it was easier to pick up on during the second and third readings.

I am taking into account that i don't know what really happened there.

Thoughtful of what?

And why is she supposed to act in accordance to what this particular guy wants? He is her friend and she treats him as such. Other than being a good friend, she isn't required to behave the way he wants to. Nothing she did hurt their friendship relationship other than him getting jealous that she went out with another guy. Even if she would have just went out on a date with another dude instead of sleeping with him, he still would have had his feelings hurt.

Pretty much.

I feel what sums up the "nice guy" attitude is the want to possess someone. It's odd and not that good of an obession to have.

And legit nice guys can find women. I'm a nice guy cause I treat women as equals to me and generally care about a strong emotional attachment to a person before sleeping with them. That's me though.

The first silent hill is really that low? I really enjoyed it. I think ff: spirits within is super underrated, too.

I don't get the hate for the Final Fantasy one either. It was well made. Well acted and I enjoyed the premise.

Sure there weren't like cloak and dagger theives and billowy caped mages, but it still had cool characters.

It's fucking unreal that people want guns to literally murder a theoretical tyrannical government but trying to stand up for yourself about using the golf course that you fucking paid to use is crossing the line.

btw even if you are golfing too slow you can just let the people behind you pass while you wait for them to finish the hole that you were about to play.

It's almost like lying to the former head of the FBI about your time in Russia while being under an investigation for colluding with Russia is news.

Who woulda thunk it?

Even the God-Emperor himself has said this may or may not work out. And really, we don't need Kim to stop threatening nuclear war. We need him to disappear and never return. Is he going to end his prison camps when he promises to stop testing nukes? Is he going to let citizens freely travel? Is he going to end government propaganda? Fix the mass poverty and hunger problem? Or is he just going to run his regime, but without the worry of the rest of the world wiping him off the map?

We don't care about North Korea. We just care about him not bothering us. I'm not advocating some failing war like in the Middle East. Just saying a pinky promise to not fire nukes is not "world peace".

Did Obama end any of that?

Because if not it still looks like Trump is more deserving of the prize.

Can you shut the fuck up about Obama for once? Seriously, how salty is your ass because a black dude was your president?

I still enjoy cracked, but not as much as I use to. I like their silly articles about pop culture, mysteries, tech and easter eggs. What I didn't like was when they started getting political. It was a website I went to for strange and awesome humour, so when they tried putting their two cents in on social issues and politics, I was like, "naw dog." I want dumb comedy and a way to distract my brain from the awfulness that is the world, not have it polluting one of my favourite websites.

Always back in. It's simple. Drive until you are parallel the third car from the spot. Put the car in reverse and go back.

I'd rather not have to turn my entire torso around just to exit a space safely.
